Lee Dillon
Students’ Union President 2017-2018
I am going to try to give you a little insight about what it is like to study in MIC. Recently, MIC incorporated St Patrick’s College
in Thurles, and we now have over 4,500 students across our two campuses. Although our student numbers are lower than many other third-level colleges, this does not impact on the student experience in MIC. If anything, it makes it even better! It’s big enough to feel like college, but not big enough for you to feel lost. MIC is a welcoming community so no matter who you pass by in the corridors here you will get a friendly smile from both staff and students. It was the open atmosphere of MIC that allowed me to meet so many new friends from all around Ireland and abroad.
A great way to blow off steam and shrug off the pressure of study is through clubs and societies. I found clubs and societies were the biggest highlight of my time in college with great socialising events organised throughout the year. Whether you are interested in hurling, gaelic football, soccer, drama, music, writing, Gaelic, charity work or Harry Potter, MIC has a club or society for you. The MIC Students' Union (MISU) provides support
to all its students so you won’t ever feel overwhelmed or lost. All you need to do is
call down to the SU with any question and we will do everything that we can to help you.
