Science Week at Mary Immaculate College 2013
100 sixth class primary pupils from different schools around Limerick attended science workshops with their teachers. The children explored the forces involved when flying an airplane and launching rockets (laws of forces, gravity, air resistance, thrust, lift etc.). They designed, made and tested their very own Airplanes, Straw Rockets, Paper Rockets and Balloon Rocket Cars using Airplane and Rocket Launchers. The workshops were designed and co-ordinated by Dr. Maeve Liston, Lecturer in Science Education, Mary Immaculate College with the support from undergraduate students and funding provided by the Irish American Partnership.
