The Radio Research Centre
Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick
The Radio Research Centre (RRC) was established in Mary Immaculate College in 2005 and is the only such centre in Ireland.
It aims to foster and develop radio research within the college community and nationally.
To this end its objectives can be itemised as follows:

to engage in concrete, practical radio research which is of direct benefit to licensed broadcasting stations

to promote an ethos and culture of radio research among the staff and student body within Mary Immaculate College and the
University of Limerick

to bid for funded radio research projects and to execute these to the highest professional standards

to attract postgraduate students with an interest in radio research to the centre and to Mary Immaculate College
-
to build normative theory in the many fields of exploration within radio
-
to link nationally with other radio researchers
-
to form links with the industry i.e. with radio broadcasters from all three sectors of Irish broadcasting - public service, commercial and community and the associations which represent the different sectors.

to engage on a national level with the regulatory authority, the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland,
BCI and legislators
-
to engage on an international level with academics, with researchers and with broadcasters to foster and develop radio research, radio theory and radio education.
